Grace United Methodist has a long history with Family Promise. It is an important outreach to us and one we are grateful to support. Family Promise's goal is to provide shelter, meals, and support to children and their families facing homelessness. One of the ways they do this is through the work of local church congregations, like Grace United Methodist.
To better understand the impact you can make as a volunteer, we invite you to watch the short video below.
There are several ways that you can help this important ministry here at Grace. Each quarter we host families on our campus for a week, and we need volunteers to help with this. Here are a few ways you can volunteer to help:
- On the Sunday afternoon of their arrival, we need help preparing the rooms where the families will stay.
- Each evening we need people to prepare, serve, and share an evening meal with the families we are hosting.
- Each night we need people to serve as overnight hosts onsite and help the families as needed.
- On the Sunday morning of their last day with us, we need volunteers to help take down as we prepare rooms for worship later that day.
Serving in these ways are not difficult, and very rewarding. It is one way we show our love to others, make them feel welcome, and offer help during a difficult season of life.
